The Changzhi North Mosque was built in 1454 during the Jingtai era of the Ming dynasty, with a prayer hall and ablution facilities. As the Muslim population grew, Imam Ma Boliang rebuilt it in 1912. It covers 12 mu; its main hall is Chinese palace-style with a later Arab-influenced minaret, and it is the oldest mosque in Changzhi.
