Beiwudu Mosque

北舞渡清真寺
📍 Luohe · Wuyang County 🏛️ 1894

📜 About & history

Beiwudu Mosque is in Beiwudu Town (also called Dingling Town), Wuyang County, Henan, where the Sha and Hui rivers meet; its good water and land links made it a Hui settlement in the Qing. Hui began moving here in the early Qing and live mainly in Beiwudu Village, Shunhe Street, Xiaowanzhuang and Xiaoxincun; they number about 500, chiefly surnamed Ding, Shan, Wan, Tong and Li. The mosque was founded in 1894 (20th year of Guangxu), when Hui from Hebei Street moved to Shunhe Street and rebuilt the old mosque there. The original site of more than 2 mu had a three-bay prayer hall, a five-room north lecture hall and other buildings. A three-bay porch was rebuilt in 1996 and a three-room north lecture hall in 1998. Its imams have included Yang Wude, Wu Guoxiang, Yu Ali, Yang Yingjie and Liu Wenbin.
