Beisi ('North Mosque') is one of the eight teaching-ward mosques of the Bafang quarter, its congregation forming the Beisi ward and standing along Bei Lane. It is celebrated for its brick-carved screen wall (yingbi) dated to 1741 in the Qianlong reign, said to be the oldest surviving large ground-standing brick screen wall of its kind. The carving exemplifies the Hui brick-carving craft for which Linxia is famous. The mosque blends Chinese classical architecture with Islamic decorative art.
