Xiajin
Xiajin is a county in Dezhou prefecture in northwestern Shandong, on the old, silted-up course of the Yellow River. It is best known for the Yellow River Old Course Ancient Mulberry Grove, China's largest surviving stand of old mulberry trees, with nearly 30,000 century-old specimens; the grove is recognised as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System and anchors a 4A-rated forest park. The economy combines this mulberry-based farming and eco-tourism with a strong cotton-textile and flour-milling industry that has earned the county national titles as a cotton-textile city and flour county. Its warm-temperate climate brings hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Autumn mulberry-picking and the forest park draw visitors from Jinan and beyond. For a visitor, Xiajin offers a distinctive blend of ancient farming heritage and quiet rural scenery.
