Tianmen

Tianmen is a directly-administered city on the Jianghan Plain of central Hubei, famed as the birthplace of Lu Yu, the Tang-dynasty 'Sage of Tea' who wrote the world's first monograph on tea, the Classic of Tea. The city celebrates this heritage with a tea-culture garden and springs named for him, and its cuisine centres on an elaborate tradition of steamed dishes. Tianmen is also one of China's best-known 'hometowns of overseas Chinese'.
