In Jiangxi province

Shangrao is a populous prefecture in northeastern Jiangxi where the province meets Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui. Its most famous attractions are Mount Sanqing, a UNESCO World Heritage granite peak sacred to Daoism, and the picturesque countryside of Wuyuan, celebrated for whitewashed Hui-style villages set among terraced rapeseed fields. The prefecture borders China's largest freshwater body, Poyang Lake, a major wintering ground for migratory birds. The area is known for green tea and steamed Hui-style cuisine. Tourism and manufacturing anchor a fast-growing economy.
