Lingshui

Lingshui Li Autonomous County lies on Hainan's southeastern coast, between the resort city of Sanya and the city of Wanning, and is one of only six ethnic autonomous counties on the island, with a population of roughly 400,000 made up mainly of Li, Han and Miao residents. Its economy blends tropical agriculture, notably tropical fruit, betel nut and aquaculture, with a rapidly expanding tourism sector centered on unspoiled beaches such as Xiangshuiwan (Perfume Bay), part of what is often called the Chinese Riviera, and it hosts the China National Badminton Team's official training base. There is no university within the county, and Lingshui students pursue higher education chiefly in Haikou and Sanya, though vocational training is available locally. Its best-known landmarks include Nanwan Monkey Island, a state-protected reserve for long-tailed macaques reached by cable car, and the lush rainforest of Diaoluoshan National Forest Park, while local cuisine celebrates fresh, tank-to-table seafood and a regional specialty of pufferfish porridge. Connected to the rest of Hainan by the Hainan Eastern Ring High-Speed Railway, Lingshui offers visitors a quieter, more traditional alternative to the built-up resorts of nearby Sanya.
