Cixi is a county-level city on the southern shore of Hangzhou Bay administered by Ningbo, and one of the wealthiest manufacturing hubs in Zhejiang. Its factories churn out home appliances, electronics and auto parts, and the giant Hangzhou Bay Bridge links it directly to Shanghai. Shanglin Lake was a cradle of ancient celadon porcelain, and the region is famous for its sweet red bayberries.
