Chenzhou

Chenzhou lies in the far south of Hunan on the border with Guangdong, historically a strategic pass on the route between central China and the Pearl River delta. It is a major mining region, sometimes called the 'nonferrous metals capital' for its tungsten, bismuth and other ore deposits. Its signature scenic attraction is Dongjiang Lake, famous for the ethereal morning mist that rises off the water below its dam. Suxian Ridge is tied to local Daoist legend. The city's cuisine leans spicy, with Linwu duck a well-known specialty.
