ℹ️ About
The Neixiang County Yamen on East Street in the county town of Neixiang is an ancient Chinese government office and the country's first yamen museum. Modelled on Beijing's Forbidden City and drawing on architectural styles from both sides of the Yangtze, it covers more than 47,000 square metres with 18 courtyards and over 260 rooms, and is the most completely preserved county-level government compound of imperial China, called the "First Yamen under Heaven". Founded in 1304 under the Yuan, it was repaired and enlarged under the Yuan, Ming and Qing. It became a national key cultural relic site in 1996 and a national 4A attraction in 2006.
